Laurie Muhlbauer, PMHNP-BC

As a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I diagnose, provide medication management, brief therapy, and education on mental health conditions for teens (14 years and older) and adults (18 to 60 years of age). I provide brief therapy during medication management appointments as needed, but for more frequent needs, I refer out to local therapists and/or counselors. I try to practice with a holistic approach, want to understand individual’s concerns and worries about their symptoms and treatment, and have people involved in their treatment planning. I believe medications can be important for stabilization and improvement of symptoms, but these are used only as necessary.

Education/Experience:

I graduated from the University of Texas Pan American with a BS in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude), from Creighton University with a BS in Nursing (Magna Cum Laude), and from the University of North Dakota with a Masters in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. I am thankful for my experience working on child/adolescent and adult inpatient psychiatric units and in outpatient clinics. I have worked with individuals from all backgrounds with varying mental health needs. I enjoy getting to know my patients and working together to find appropriate treatment options that can benefit them.
